LYNN — Duane S. Fleming, 66, of Lynn, died peacefully Thursday evening with his family by his side following a lengthy illness. He was the devoted husband of Jean A. (Harkness) Fleming, with whom he shared more than 20 years of marriage.
Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Frederick J. and Edith G. (Upton) Fleming. He was a lifelong resident of Lynn.
Duane attended the Peterson Technical School and was first employed at the former Lynn Hospital as a stationary engineer for 18 years and then worked an additional 10 years for the state of Massachusetts at the Fernald Center in Waltham before he retired due to illness.
Duane was a member of the NRA, enjoyed collecting WWII collectible military items, and also enjoyed playing the guitar, photography, and model building. His favorite endeavor was spending summers at the family camp in Sanbornville, N.H.
Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his children, Darlene Hornblower of Lynn, Christian Fleming of Lynn, Hollie Fleming of Maine, Tristan Fleming of Lynn, and Caroline Madden of Northborough; his two brothers, Frederick Fleming Jr. of Arizona and Richard Fleming of Lynn; and is also survived by eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Service information: His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the CONWAY, CAHILL-BRODEUR Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4-8 p.m. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn.
