LYNN — Mr. Alfred “Al” R. Maloney, age 87, of Lynn, passed away on Feb. 8, 2019.
He was born in Lynn in 1932 and was the son of the late Alfred J. and Evelyn Maloney. He was a graduate of Classical High School, Class of 1950.
He enlisted for service in the Navy in 1952 and was honorably discharged in 1956. After his service he went on to work for General Electric Co. in Lynn and for Raytheon in Andover. He spent the bulk of his career working as a mechanic for Eastern Airlines and ultimately retired from the IRS in 1998.
He enjoyed hockey, candlepin bowling, fishing, and spending time at Pine River Pond in Wakefield, N.H. Above all, he loved his family and his many pets who were near and dear to his heart.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Lucille “Tootsie” (L’Heureux) Maloney and their five children; son Michael Maloney of Salem, daughter Jeanne (Maloney) Melanson and her husband Mark of Lynn, son John Maloney of Florida, son Andrew Maloney and his wife Stacia of Concord, N.H., and son Alfred J Maloney and his wife Tracey of Sanford, Maine. He also leaves behind 19 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by daughter Maureen (Maloney) O’Brien, as well as his three sisters, Nancy Tabb, Sheila Lee and Janet Burns.
