    Teresa Jaworska passed away quietly on November 23, 2019 in Windemere. It was the end of a long journey that began in Poland over 95 years ago. Her last 22 idyllic years on Martha’s Vineyard were in stark contrast to the nightmarish landscape of her youth. Poland had been invaded by both Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia in 1939 when Teresa was 15. With all civil rights stripped away under Occupation, daily life was perilous. Teresa and her friends defied strict Nazi laws and organized underground classes to continue their schooling. She was 89 years old.  Emily was born Feb. 18, 1930, on Martha’s Vineyard to Antone and Flora Canha Jardin of Vineyard Haven. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, and mother. Emily loved to reminisce about past life on the Island, and share her quick wit and humor with loved ones.     David A. Abrahams died on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019, at his home in Greenwich Village, New York City. Next month he would have turned 93. David was born and raised in Brooklyn, and spent summers in Vineyard Haven for the past six decades with his wife, Carole Cronig Abrahams, daughter of Henry and Mae Cronig. Abrahams attended Syracuse University, and served in the Army Signal Corps at the end of World War II, with a deployment in Japan.     Karen A. Kukolich of Edgartown died peacefully at her home on Oct. 26, 2019. She fought a long, valiant, and painful battle with cancer. Her wish to spend her last days in her home was made possible with the compassionate and skilled support of M.V. Hospice. Karen was born In Vicksburg, Mich. She graduated from Ithaca College, earning a degree in physical therapy. She arrived on the Vineyard in 1978 when she accepted a job at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital.
