Susan was born March 10, 1952 in Dorchester, the daughter of the late Doris (Connors) and John Maguire. She grew up in Dorchester and Hyde Park and was a graduate of the St. Clare High School in Roslindale. She attended Suffolk University and Stonehill College, majoring in journalism.
