She is survived by her husband of 50 years, David Wood Simmerer; two sons, Craig R. and David A. Simmerer; two daughters, Katherine S. Sottille and Robin S. DeMasi, three brothers, Jere K., Timothy K. and David B. Allen and her sister Phoebe A. Gustafson, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was born in Spencer, the daughter of Charles Boyd Allen and Margaret Kinnicutt Allen. She was a graduate of the Bancroft School and the University of New Hampshire.
