Born in Central Falls, R.I., September 3, 1924, she was the youngest of nine children of Polish immigrants, Stanislaw and Marciana (Iwanowski) Gorczynski and was a graduate of Central Falls High School, Class of 1940. She went on receive her nursing degree from Boston City Hospital School of Nursing in 1943.
Having lived in Pawtucket for many years, Josephine was a longtime, active member of St. Teresa's Church in Pawtucket.
She leaves a legacy of treasured memories to her three sons and their spouses, Louis A. Giorgio and wife, Deborah of Newburyport, Paul J. Giorgio and wife Karen of Graysonville, Md. and Albert Giorgio and wife Gina of Plymouth, Mass.; six grandchildren, Paula Jackson, Erica Mann, Louis Giorgio, Michaella Giorgio, Joseph Giorgio and Thomas Giorgio; two great-grand-
children, Violet and Oliver Jackson, along with generations of nieces and nephews, extended family members, friends, and last but not least, her devoted parakeet, Chicho. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also predeceased by her eight siblings.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Teresa's Church, 354 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket, R.I., on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 11 a.m. followed by burial at the Notre Dame Cemetery, 359 Daggett Avenue, Pawtucket. Arrangements are by Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport, Mass.
