Salisbury, MA – Jean E. (Kennedy) Ober, age 86, longtime Salisbury resident, passed in the early hours of Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at Country Center for Health & Rehab in Newburyport. She was the beloved wife of Arthur T. Ober, her husband of 65 years.
Born in Danvers, July 5, 1934, Jean was the youngest of four children of the late Herman T. and Virginia (Fellows) Kennedy of Danvers, and was a graduate of Danvers High School. She went on to graduate from the Beverly Hospital School of Nursing, receiving her degree as a Registered Nurse, which lead to a longtime nursing career. She had worked at Beverly Hospital, Danvers State Hospital, Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, and the Infirmary nurse at Governor Dummer’s Academy in Byfield, MA. Following her nursing career, she enjoyed her 25-year career as an antique dealer.
Jean was a member of the Maple Street Congregational Church in Danvers, where she enjoyed singing with the choir, and had also been a member of the Eastern Star in Beverly.
In addition to her husband, Arthur, she leaves behind her two daughters, Karyl Ober-Miles of Newmarket, NH and Karen Tellier and husband Mark of Brentwood, NH; four grandchildren, Cody of Brentwood, NH and Dayton Tellier of Exeter, NH; Chelsea Miles of Epping, NH and Zachary Miles and his wife, Jennifer of Wells, Maine; two nieces and two nephews, Charlotte Adams, Donald Adams, Lisa Blair and John Wilson, along with extended family and dear friends. She was predeceased by her brother, PFC, Herman T. Kennedy, Jr,, who died while serving in World War II, and her two sisters, Merle Kennedy and Elaine Wilson.
During their marriage, Jean and Arthur would take motorcycle trips into Canada and across the United States. They travelled extensively in their Winnebago and had many wonderful excursions. She loved camping with her family and grandchildren. She loved her family most of all and would enjoy hosting the annual family reunions on the 4th of July.
Due to the continued restrictions concerning Covid-19, services will be private for the family. A Celebration of Life will be held next year on her birthday, July 5, 2021. In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring Jean with donations to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 51 Blossom Street, Boston, MA 02114. Arrangements are by Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury.
