Shallotte, North Carolina – Peter Leo O’Brien pasted peacefully on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, at Autumn Care of Shallotte in Shallotte, North Carolina.

Peter was born and raised in Gloucester, Mass., to the late James L and Cecelia M (Ryan) O’Brien. He shared 16 years with his wife, Diane (Poler) O’Brien. He moved to the Southeast around 1985 and lived in number of states, settling in Calabash, N.C., in 2015. Peter was a graduate of the Massachusetts School of Trades in 1967 as a Machinist. He spent 35-plus years working as a forklift technician for several companies including Yale, Raymond, and Barloworld (Hyster). Before his retirement in 2015, Peter worked for eight years as an equipment analyst for CJK Services, Inc. of Lawrenceville, Georgia.

Peter enjoyed classic cars, working with his hands and remodeling homes. He loved to be with his dogs and spent several years in his youth helping to raise and train racing greyhounds.

In addition to his wife, Diane, Peter is survived by his two brothers, Thomas R. O’Brien of New Boston, N.H., and Richard J. O’Brien and his wife Deborah of Vanceboro, N.C.; a niece, Kathleen O’Brien Ohlson and her husband Karl of Manchester; nephew, Daniel O’Brien and wife Jennifer of New Boston; and by two great-nieces, Rory and Ruby O’Brien of New Boston.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Autumn Care of Shallotte for their loving care of Peter.
