Gloucester – Robert E. Gorrell, 84, of Gloucester, son of the late Robert and Lillian (Pollock) Gorrell, died September 17, 2020 peacefully at his home in Lanesville.
Born on September 28, 1935 in Charlestown, where he married his childhood sweetheart Martha (Landry) Gorrell who he lost to a courageous battle with cancer in 1975. His long-lasting employment with the B & M Railroad of 42 years brought him to the tracks of the Rockport Train Depot where he met his second love Diana Stephanio Frederick Gorrell. They had a life of adventure Blending two families totaling 8 children and their love of travel until he lost her as well in 2002.
Robert was a U.S. Army Veteran P.E-Z in the Korean War and a member of the National Guard, VFW, AMVETS and the American Legion. He also was a generous supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project and his church St. Paul Lutheran.
He is survived by his sister, Lillian Reighnes; two daughters, Susan Gallagher widow of John Gallagher and Marsha Gorrell-Story and her husband Michael; three sons, Robert Gorrell, Timothy Gorrell and his wife Joanne and Kevin Gorrell and his longtime girlfriend Kelly Palmer; three step-daughters, Betsy Frederick, Roberta Frederick and Jane Frederick and her husband Frank Mondello; grandchildren, Christopher Gallagher and his wife Crystal, Jenn Hughes and her husband Paul, John Robert Gallagher, Melissa Gorrell, Krickett Reynolds and her husband Matty; Bridget Stephens, Tabatha Gorrell, Timothy Gorrell Jr., Stephen Almeida and his wife, Sarah, Mariah Castillo and her husband Victor, Tony Curtis II, Amanda Milliken and her husband, Greg, Kimberly Gorrell, Stephanie Gorrell, Heather Worster and her husband Ronald, Brian Gorrell, William Auger, Mazie Planet, Samantha Gorrell, Kevin “Sonny” Gorrell, Mary and Hunter Lovelace and Peter Mondello; 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
His graveside service will be held in Seaside Cemetery, Gloucester on Tuesday September 29, 2020 at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
