Gloucester – David J. Rowe, 70…

Gloucester – David J. Rowe, 70, lifelong resident of Gloucester, passed away suddenly on September 10, 2020. David was the husband of the late Rose Genest.
David was born on February 20, 1950 to the late Robert A. Rowe and Stella Maude (Herrick) Flannagan. He worked many jobs over the years and acquired a variety of skills; he particularly valued his time working alongside Buster Beauparlant.
David was an avid Red Sox fan and had a treasured baseball card collection. His gentle spirit was adored by animals – and they reciprocated. He took great pleasure in long nature walks. David was knowledgeable about many subjects, including World War II, classic films, and antiques, specifically glass bottles. He was an old soul who loved to crack jokes, and he delighted in the moments spent with his grandchildren. More than anything, he loved his hometown.
David is survived by his sons, Michael, Jason, Shaun and Robert Rowe, and daughter Kelly Rowe; Michael’s children Kailee Hartwell, Michelle Rowe and Michael Rowe, Jr.; Jason’s wife, Christina Clem; Shaun’s fiancée Brianna Munroe and daughters, Annie and Madison Rowe; and Robert’s wife Leah Langley, and children, David, Emma and Brooke Rowe. Additionally, he is survived by siblings, Diane Thompson and Robert Rowe, both of Florida, and James Rowe, of Gloucester, in addition to many nieces, nephews and cousins. Dear among those are niece, Anne Viviani and nephew, John Scola. He spent many of his latter days with best friend, Joseph S. Parisi.
He was predeceased by son, David, daughter Mary, and brother Daniel Rowe, in addition to his wife.
Memorial services will be held at a later date, and details will be shared for those who wish to celebrate David’s life. Arrangements are by the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St. Gloucester. Online condolences may be given at:
