Rockport – David Rowe “Scat” Scatterday, husband of Elizabeth Eames (Cleaves) Scatterday, whom he shared 65 years of marriage with, of Rockport, passed away at home. He was born in Gloucester, on April 14, 1933, and was the son of the late Russell Harold Scatterday and Carolyn Stetson (Lane) Scatterday. Dave was a graduate of Rockport High School, class of 1951, where he played baseball and basketball. Upon graduation, he served in United States Navy (1951-1954) during the Korean War as a Radioman 3rd Class on the USS Adria. He was a member of the Rockport American Legion serving as judge advocate for many years. Dave was proud to march in the Rockport Memorial Day parade for 57 years. He worked for 32 years with New England Telephone and Telegraph Company and after retirement worked another 22 years at Cape Ann Market and Shaw’s. He served on the Rockport Board of Appeals for 19 years. He was a lifetime member of the Gloucester Lodge of Elks, #892 and a member of the Rockport Baptist Church. He played baseball for the Rockport Town Team under Coach Aldro Hibbard. Dave enjoyed many years of golf. He loved vegetable gardening, walks in the woods, and spending time with his family.
He was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth, and is survived by his four sons, Stephen and his wife Anita of Rockport, James and his wife Siripat of Rockport and Thailand, David and his wife Bonnie and Douglas and his wife Theresa, all of Rockport. His pride and joy were his eight grandchildren of which he was so proud, Chelsea, Jeffrey, Elizabeth, Bradley, Samuel, Jacob, Nicholas and Joseph; and his great-grandchildren, Zachary, Annabelle, Maverick and Isabelle; many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be scheduled at a future date for both he and Betty.
