In 1958, Andre moved to Wilmington when he married the love of his life, Barbara Johnson, with whom he celebrated over 61 years of marriage. Andre and Barbara raised 7 children of their own. Andre had a long career as a member of the Wilmington Highway Department.
Andre loved to travel, especially taking road trips in the car or on his motorcycle. His hobbies included fishing, hunting and coin collecting. Andre was also known to be a bit of a gambler, he loved playing cards and picking horse races.
Andre was the beloved husband of Barbara (Johnson) LaFave of Wilmington. He was the loving father of Cheryl Joyce of Wilmington, Andy LaFave, Jr. & his wife MaryBeth of New Hampshire, Stephen LaFave of Wilmington, Lori Leon & her husband Francisco of Wilmington, Cynthia Larsen & her husband Chris of Dracut, James LaFave & his wife Sheryl of Tewksbury and Barbara McHugh & her husband William of Wilmington. Andre was the cherished grandfather of 20 and great-grandfather of 18. He was the son of the late Albine and Marie (LaGull) LaFave. Andre was the dear brother of Marilyn Reiss. He is predeceased by 6 siblings. Andre is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rt 62), Wilmington on Thursday, July 30th, from 4-7 p.m. Face coverings are required in the funeral home. Interment will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 31st in Wildwood Cemetery, where friends can gather to say goodbye.
