Abington – Blanche U. Sims, 85, of Abington died on August 4 at the Good Samaritan Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Harold R. Sims.

She was born in Quincy, daughter of the late Charles Webber and Ferne Lamoureaux.

Blanche was raised in Weymouth, a graduate of Weymouth High School, Class of 1952. She worked as a secretary in Boston for several years before raising a family. She ran a home business, A to Z Letters & Memos until late into her 70’s.

She was an active member of the Abington Child Study Group, Strawberry Valley Women’s Golf Association and Timber Lanes Women’s Bowling League. Blanche was a member of the United Church of Christ in Abington. She participated with her husband Harold, in Abington Rotary Club activities and was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow.

Blanche loved “Play Day” on Tuesdays – playing golf (she achieved a hole in one), bowling, lunch with the girls and was an avid bridge player. She was a talented craftswoman – knitting, painting and woodcrafts. She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and especially time at her camp RO-JO-HA-MA-JO in Plymouth.

Blanche is survived by her children, Janis Wilson and her husband William, J. Barry Sims, Jayne Moniz and her husband Peter and Gene Sims and his wife Dawn; six grandchildren Alana and her fiancé Joshua, Amanda and her husband Scott, Jared and his fiancée Chelsea, Harrison, P.J. and Sydney; three great grandchildren, Owen, Avery and Wyatt.

Visitation will be held on Friday August 9th from 4-7 at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman.
Interment will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on August 30th at 10:00AM.
