She was born in Lawrence and was the daughter of the late Irving Haseltine and Margaret (McCarthy) Haseltine Blackstock. “Libby” was raised and educated in Lawrence, graduating from Lawrence High School in 1948. She attended Curry College of Boston and taught elocution for several years. She later worked for Bell Telephone, Macartney’s Clothing Stores, in real estate, and at Raytheon.
