LYNN — Mrs. Arlene F. (Murphy) Lang, 91 years, of Lynn, died on Monday, April 29, 2019, in a local nursing home after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Harold W. Lang.
Arlene was the daughter of the late Augustine and Catherine (Bullock) Murphy. Mrs. Lang was a lifelong resident of Lynn and graduate of Lynn English High School.
Arlene was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family meant everything to her. She was an avid Boston sports fan, especially the Red Sox. She remembered fondly the days of the Lynn Red Sox, a farm team for the Boston Red Sox. Years ago she enjoyed bowling in a local candlepin league and was involved with Cub Scouts, Campfire Girls and was a band booster for the Lynn English High School Band. In addition to caring for her family, she worked for the General Electric Company and for Nichols and French Caterers.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Gail Gauthier and her husband Peter of Springfield, Susan F. Lang and her husband Bruce Challinor of Sandown, N.H., Thomas W. Lang and his wife Lucille of Groveland, Theresa A. Choo and her husband Arthur of Hingham, John A. Lang and his wife Debra of Lynn, David A. Lang and his wife Kimberly of Lynn. She also leaves her grandchildren, Felicia, Michael and Dana Carreiro, Domenic and Christina Ferrande, Tanya Sears and Jason Marr, Stephanie, Victoria and A.J. Choo, Kathrine and Jacob Lang, Daniel and Ryan Lang; and her great-grandson, Justin Carriero. She leaves her sisters and their spouses, Mary and Bill O’Brien of Conyers, Ga., Cathy and Denny Greene of Sun City West, Ariz.; as well as her sisters-in-law, Mary Murphy of Braintree and Helen Lang of Peabody. She is the sister of the late Martin Murphy and the late Winifred and Louis Wolfe. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Service information: Her funeral will be held on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 10 a.m. from the SOLIMINE Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Route 129), Lynn, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Pius V Church at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
