John J. “Jack” Foley, III, lifelong resident of Medford, passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, April 18th. He was 61. Born and raised in Medford, he was the son of Elvira (Stabile) and the late John Foley, II.

Jack was an amazing cook and would cook for his family no matter the occasion. His dishes were made from scratch and were known to be delicious. You could always find him making a huge batch of chili, jambalaya or a pot of kale soup.

When Jack was not in the kitchen he loved to spend time on the beaches of Cape Cod, basking in the hot sun in Aruba and exploring the woods up in the White Mountains. An avid football fan and a diehard Miami Dolphins fanatic, when the Patriots and Dolphins played each other there was some friendly team rivalry in the Foley household.

Jack was a proud member of the Somerville DAV Chapter 23, and the Teamsters Union Local 25. He worked hard to provide for his family. He was a dedicated husband, a loving father, a caring son, and the best Papa. He will be greatly missed by all.

John was the beloved husband of Christine (Fyler) Foley of Medford, and the devoted father of Ryan Foley and his wife Carol of Wilmington, Larissa Foley and her fiancée Val of Medford, and step father of Jackie Martinez and her husband Franco of NY. He was the loving Papa of Darian, Adrian and Nico, and the dear brother of David Foley, all of Medford, and the late Stephen Foley. He is also survived by many nephews, cousins and friends.

His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, on Wednesday, April 24th at 10:30 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High St., Medford, at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday 4 – 8 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent in John’s name to the Massachusetts General Hospital, Sarcoma Research Unit, 55 Fruit St., Boston, MA 02114.
