Salem – Paul William Atkinson of Salem passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2019 in the Salem Hospital at the age of 72. Born in Lynn on February 7, 1947, he was the son of the late Robert and Katherine (Collier) Atkinson. Paul was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn English High School. He went on to earn his certificate from East Coast Aero Technical School which he turned into a long career working with the General Electric Co in their aircraft manufacturing division, retiring as a manger. After his retirement at GE, Paul went on to work for the Horizon’s Edge Casino which operated out of Lynn. He had such a fun time working at the casino and met many numerous friends along the way. Paul met a special friend in Bridget Tsiopanas at the casino and not too long after they were a couple. Paul and Bridget had spent over 18 years in love together and spent the past four years as husband and wife. Paul was an avid bicyclist. He spent many hours cycling some of his favorite spots along Lynn Beach and through Rail Trail in Danvers. Through all his life’s passions, Paul’s biggest enjoyment was spending time with his adoring Godson/grandson, Brayden Rossignoll.
In addition to his wife and Godson, Paul leaves his children: Paul Atkinson and his wife, Maria of Marblehead and four grandchildren, Lisa Atkinson of Manchester, NH, and Emily Tsiopanas and her fiancée Michael Rossignoll. Paul also leaves his sister-in-law, Holli Pelonzi and her husband Robert of Beverly, his cousin, Al Leavitt of VT, as well as his niece Britni Luszcz and her fiancée Dustin O’shea.
A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at 1 p.m. in the North Beverly Cemetery, Beverly. Arrangements by the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St. Beverly.
