Peabody – Theodore G. "Teddy" …

Peabody – Theodore G. “Teddy” Angelakis, Sr., 84, of Salem, passed away Friday morning at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Shirley (Chase) Angelakis, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage.
Teddy was born on December 7, 1934, in Peabody, son of the late George and Helen (Souliotis) Angelakis. He was raised and educated in Peabody, and later went on to attend Northeastern University, which he left early to start his business. He owned and operated Ted’s Walnut Spa, a Peabody institution, for over 20 years. He later went on to run the West Lynn Creamery Dairy Bar in Lynn. He finished his working career as a Senior Building Custodian for the Salem School Department. Following his retirement, he volunteered at the NSMC-Salem Hospital.
Aside from his long career, he had been a very active member of the St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody, where he was voted “Parishioner of the Year” in 1986. He also ran the popular Christmas Communion breakfast for 30 years. He was very proud of his Greek heritage, volunteering at the Greek festival and running the Greek school graduation breakfast. In his free time, he enjoyed writing poetry, which only a lucky few would be privy. He fell in love with coastal Maine, and would travel there frequently with his wife, Shirley. He enjoyed ten pin bowling and playing cards with his friends. Most of all he enjoyed being surrounded by his loving family, especially his grandchildren. His charitable and loving spirit will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Theodore G. Angelakis and his wife Susan of Wells, Maine, Daniel E. Angelakis and his wife, Nikki of Salem, MA, and Pamela Angelakis of Peabody; his grandchildren, Zoe, Olivia, Christopher, and Katie Angelakis; his brother, Peter Angelakis of FL, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
