BEVERLY — Dorothy A. (Marie) Macdonald, 89, of Beverly, died Monday evening surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Franklin W. and Anna K. (Donahue) Marie. She was raised and educated in Lynn and has lived in Danvers and Beverly.
Family was everything to Dottie and she loved visits from her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed shopping for a deal, spending time at the beach and outings with her friends. Dottie was a traditional, yet independent woman who made her own way in the world. In later years, she enjoyed going out for a shared meal or a quiet visit with a sibling, niece, nephew or cousin. Dottie’s granddaughters never visited grammy without ice cream as an offering.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Steven B. Macdonald and his wife Kathleen of Middleton, Andrea N. Holden and her husband Peter L. Holden of Riverside, R.I.; her three grandchildren, Grace and Victoria Holden and William Barry Macdonald; her sister, Frances Laubner of Peabody; sister-in-law, Lois Marie of Oak Bluffs, Martha’s Vineyard; brother-in-law, Thomas Howard of Peabody; and also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her son, Neal F. Macdonald, and her siblings Robert Marie and Irene Howard.
Service information: Relatives and friends are kindly invited to visiting hours to be held on Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the MACKEY Funeral Home, 128 South Main St., Route 114, Middleton, and her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 9 a.m. at St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers.
