Therese J. “Terri” (Blanchette) Cleveland, 89, of Dartmouth died February 11, 2019 at Care One of New Bedford after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Donald F. Cleveland.
Born and raised in Fairhaven, daughter of the late Omer and Lydia (Richard) Blanchette, she lived in Dartmouth most of her life.
At age 50, she became a licensed practical nurse and worked in several local nursing homes.
She was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene and was known as the Hat Lady at church.
Survivors include her 5 children, Donna Self and her husband Corby of Tennessee, Christine Couto and her husband Michael of Dartmouth, Gary Cleveland and his wife Doreen of Fairhaven, Milton Cleveland and his wife Sharon of Florida, and Jennifer Chisser and her husband Kurt of Bourne; 2 brothers, Omer “Sonny” Blanchette, Donald Blanchette, Julie Carriero and Lorraine Bourque, all of Fairhaven, Doris Cusson of Winchester, MA and Lillian Langlois of Acushnet; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Ronald Cleveland and Andrew Cleveland and the sister of the late Albert Blanchette.
Her Memorial Service will be held on Monday, February 19th at 11 AM in the First Church of the Nazarene, 764 Hathaway Rd. New Bedford. In honor of Terri, the family requests that you wear your favorite hat to her service. Visiting hours are omitted. Arrangements are with the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park Street, New Bedford. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
