Beverly – Mrs. Brenda M. (Gould) Sumrall, 77, of Beverly, beloved wife of Robert W. Sumrall, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2019, at Beverly Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Warren and Arlene (Tibbits) Gould. She was raised and educated in Peabody and was a graduate of Peabody High School.

An honorably discharged veteran Brenda, proudly served her country as a member of the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.

Mrs. Sumrall had been employed at Beverly City Hall for many years, holding several positions, retiring from the Human Resource Department after several years of dedicated service to the City of Beverly.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, family was Brenda’s greatest joy. She adored her grandchildren and cherished the time she spent with them. She had the ability to make each grandchild feel special and as if they were the only one; their interests were her interests; she doted on them with love and support and was truly proud of their many accomplishments. She will be deeply missed by her loving family and many friends.

In addition to her loving husband Bob with whom she shared 52 years of marriage, are her daughter, Terri McDonough and her husband Andrew of Rochester, N.H.; and her son, Thomas Sumrall of Salem; her grandchildren, Scott Sumrall, Jeremy Sumrall and his wife Jessica, Robert “Robby” Sumrall and Bethany Launsby-Capelotti and her husband Kevin; her four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the grandmother of the late Ryan Sumrall.
A visitation will be held in the Peterson-O’Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St. (Route 62), Danvers, on Friday, February 15, 2019, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Relatives and friends invited. All other services are private. To share a memory or offer a condolence, please visit
