LYNN — Don R. MacKenzie, 73, of Lynn passed away on Friday, February 1, 2019 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House following a brief illness. He is the husband of Mary J. (Tucker) MacKenzie with whom he shared 50 years of marriage.
Don was born January 5, 1946 in Salem. He is the son of the late Roger and Elizabeth (Andrews) MacKenzie. Though he was a long time resident of Lynn, he grew up in Salem and Beverly. Don graduated from Beverly High School and North Shore Community College.
Don worked at the General Electric Company and retired after 45 years of service.
He was a true family man and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed the Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins, traveling especially to Disney, reading and taking trips to the casino.
In addition to his loving wife Mary, Don is survived by his two sons Aengus MacKenzie and his wife Janice and Martin MacKenzie and his wife Ginny all of Lynn, and his cherished grandchildren Nathaniel and Abigail MacKenzie. He is also survived by his siblings William MacKenzie, Roger MacKenzie, George Frost, Richard Frost and John MacKenzie, Cookie Webber, Betty Doane, Marilyn Jo O’Brien, Mel Frasier, Jan Davitts and Merry Frazier as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Don is predeceased by his sister Alice Frost and his brother Thomas MacKenzie.
Service information: Don’s visiting hours will be in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St Lynn on Saturday, February 9, 2019 from 12-2 p.m. There will be a Celebration of Don’s Life after the services.
