Edward M. “Snookie”Kotowski, 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 20, 2018 at the Soldiers Home in Holyoke. Born January 24, 1926, son of the late Wincenty and Victoria (Kosakowski) Kotowski, he was a lifelong Chicopee resident. Edward was a US Navy veteran of World War II, and was awarded the American Theater Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. He was a member of the American Legion Post 452 and the Polish American Veterans, Andrew Balut Post. Edward was a communicant of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus, Bishop and Martyr and a retired machinist for Hamilton Standard Corp. He greatly enjoyed fishing and listening to Polish music. Edward was predeceased in 2016 by his beloved wife, Theresa A. (Berthiaume) Kotowski, and is survived by loving nephews and nieces, Kenneth Olejarz and wife Robin, Judith Bushey, Nancy Auger, Gail Lungarini and husband Wayne, Rae Ann, Lynn Ann and Vincent Kotowski, Cynthia Lidwin, Michael Kotowski and Darlene Kotowski. He was predeceased by his seven siblings, Sally, Agnes, Jerry, Max, Stella, Alice and Raymond. Edward’s family would like to thank the entire staff of the Holyoke Soldiers’ Home for the excellent care and loving compassion given to their uncle. Funeral services for Edward will be held Thursday at 8:30AM from Kozikowski Funeral Home, 565 Front St., Chicopee, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30AM in St. Stanislaus Basilica. Committal services with military honors will follow in the chapel of Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Agawam. Calling hours are Wednesday 5-7PM.
