Scottsdale, AZ – Sharon Santos…

Scottsdale, AZ – Sharon Santos, 84, went home to God and the Angels after a courageous battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis on June 15, 2018, while being cared for by her son Johnny, and her daughter-in-law Luz Marina.
Sharon was born in Salem, Mass., in 1933, to Francis Redican and Elizabeth (Riley) Redican, and was a lifelong resident of the city before moving to Scottsdale, Ariz., in March of 2016 due to health issues.
Sharon worked at Sylvania Electric in their Danvers and Salem plants for 30 years, retiring in 1992; during that time, she also worked part time as a waitress at the Hawthorne Hotel in Salem. After retiring in 1992, she went to work at Ye Old Pepper Company processing of Salem and Lawrence for 15 years and during that time she worked part-time independently for children and the elderly.
She had a smile that could light up a room and an Irish sense of humor that always brought a laugh to others; she will be so very missed.
In the 27 months she lived in Scottsdale, she lived life to the fullest and was able to see all the beauty out West with her son and daughter-in-law, with travels to the Grand Canyon, Sedona, Monument Valley, Las Vegas, and to Laguna Beach, California, to see her oldest sister Dolores, and she enjoyed that time very much.
Along with her son and his wife, Sharon leaved behind her daughter, Debbie Pionke Russo of Illinois, and is preceded by her dear daughter Paula who passed in 1983. She is also survived by her sister Dolores; and preceded by her sister, Helen Darby and brother, Bobby Redican; we are sure she is having many laughs with all of them up above. Sharon also leaves many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
The family would like to thank Mikey Hayes, Eric Harrison, Jake Sweeney and the late Billy (Binky) Reddy for always being there for her; she thought of the four of you as sons and loved you very much. Also to everyone on Abbot Street (AKA Rabbit Street) Salem, we were all family back in the day and Sharon cherished those years with all of you, you were all family and she is smiling down on all of you.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours which will be held in the O’Donnell Funeral Home, 46 Washington Sq. (at Salem Common), Salem, on Tuesday, July 10, from 4 to 7 p.m. All other services are private. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Sharon’s memory to St. Jude Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, a charity very close to Sharon’s heart.
