CHARLTON: Armenag John Kaprielian, 98, of Masonic Home Road, formerly of Bunker Lane in Natick passed away on May 24, 2018 in The Overlook Masonic Home Road after an illness.
Armenag, known to most as “John,” was born on June 20, 1919 to the late Armen and Makruhe (Adamian) Kaprielian in Worcester, MA.
Following his graduation from high school in 1937, John enrolled in Northeastern University to study mechanical engineering. However, he was needed to drop out and work with his family on their farm. At the beginning of World War II, John enlisted in the United States Army. During the war, he was stationed for three years as a technical Sergeant in Bodney, England where he maintained and repaired P47 and P38 fighter planes. After his honorable discharge, John went to work at the General Motors Plant in Framingham. He always continued to run Kaprielian Apple Orchard and Poultry Farm (est. 1916).
John was a very active member of the Masonic organization, serving as the Secretary of the Meridian Lodge, District Deputy Grand Secretary, Past Master of Cryptic Council, Past Patron of Aurora Chapter of the Eastern Star and many years as an advisor to the DeMolay youth group.
John had a life-long passion repairing and building a wide range of mechanical things from engines to 500 gallon mobile spray tanks. With his extensive set of tools, his arc welder and the pile of steel kept in back of the garage on the farm, he could build almost anything. One could spend hours exploring his garage and still discover many things of which would be unidentifiable. However, he knew where everything went and what its purpose was.
John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Anne (Karakashian) Kaprielian in 2009, after 59 years of marriage and his sister Leona Boyajan.
John is survived by his children: his son Mark Kaprielian and his wife Elizabeth of Framingham and his daughter Gail Kaprielian and her husband Jerome Babst of South Natick.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 1st from 10:00-11:00 A.M. followed by a Masonic Service in John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, Natick, MA 01760. At the conclusion of the Masonic Service burial, next to his wife, will be held in Old North Cemetery, Route 27, Natick, MA, with military honors.
