Newburyport Ma. – Lisa died suddenly of a heart attack leaving her family and friends stunned that someone so full of life could be gone so quickly.
Beauty, kindness, generosity, humor, and creativity were the hallmarks of Lisa’s life, a life well lived, fully lived right up until her last moments.
She grew up in a large, colorful and creative family and graduated from Newburyport High School in 1973. Lisa was fiercely independent and put herself through NECC studying liberal arts and earned her BSN from UMass Lowell. Although she spent her professional career as an R.N. she was also a licensed Reflexologist and contributed gourmet delights to The Farmstand in Salisbury. As a curious person and a lover of the arts, Lisa was a lifelong learner.
Lisa leaves so many mourning her loss. The absence of that quick wit, love of a good pun, and full ringing laughter leaves a hole in the fabric of her community. She never failed to lend a helping hand to family, friends and strangers alike. Her generous, kind nature showed in her work as well as her play. She never came for a visit without an armful of flowers or a gourmet treat. She took delight in giving gifts and had an uncanny ability to find exactly the right gift. Except for the vegetables.
Lisa was an avid gardener often seen around Newburyport in her ‘Wellies’. In the fall she would share her considerable harvest of vegetables with everyone whether you liked it or not! Vegetables are good for you.
Lisa had an eye for beauty and a talent for creating it. She dressed with colorful flair, was an accomplished photographer, fabric artist and landscape designer. She created the Peace Garden at Unity and several beautiful private gardens around the Newburyport.area.
She took her spiritual growth and journey seriously and was a longtime member of Unity
Lisa leaves behind her beloved son Gabriel Gallant, sister Mary Gallant Courage and son Joseph, brother Peter and wife Pam and daughter Amy, nephew Lucas and wife Rosa and children Lucas Jr. and Louis, nieces Marika Baymler and daughter Keagan, Nicole Story, husband Chris and daughters Taylor and Morgan, and a large network of heartbroken friends. Lisa was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Gertrude Gallant and sisters Christine, Marcia, Michele, and Margaret.
Join us for a celebration of Lisa’s life at Unity on the River, 58 Macy St. ( Rt. 110 ) Amesbury, Saturday, May 26 at 11 a.m.
