Lt. Col. Stanley C. Jaksina USMC (ret), Harvard

Lt. Col. Stanley C.  Jaksina  USMC (ret)Lt. Col. Jaksina was born in Boston, March 3, 1928, a son of Frank and Sophie (Baliska) Jaksina and was a 1945 graduate of Boston English High School. He continued his education at the Naval Academy at Annapolis Maryland, graduating in 1953 with a Beachelors Degree in Engineering. He later attended the Air Force Institute of Technology, graduating in 1968 with a Masters Degree in Engineering.

Lt. Col. Jaksina served his country for 22 years in the United States Marines, retiring in 1971. Having served during WW II, Korean Conflict and Vietnam War, he was awarded many medals including 2 Purple Heart Medals and 4 Bronze Stars.

Following his retirement from the armed forces Lt Col. Jaksina worked 10 years as a Systems Engineer at Wang Labs in Lawrence and Burlington and in a similar capacity at Analytical Systems Engineer Corporation in Burlington.

He leaves his wife of 63 years, Dorothy A. (Madigan) Jaksina; a son and daughter in law, Robert F. and Cindy Jaksina of Townsend; a daughter, Ann L. Jaksina and her companion, Dan Lesnick, of Brownsville, VT; a sister, Lucy Syvinski of Amesbury; three grandchildren, Robert Jaksina, Jr., Kayleigh Pennell, Kim Jaksina and three great grandchildren, Bryce Pennell, Ryleigh Pennell and Robert Jaksina III.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish- St. Theresa’s Church in Harvard and a member and past president of The Retired Officers Association.


A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Wedensday, April 11th at Holy Trinity Parish – St. Theresa’s Church, Still River Road, Harvard.

Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery, Harvard.
