Rosaire J. “Joe” Fortier, Fitchburg

Rosaire J. “Joe”  FortierJoe was born in Quebec, Canada on July 27, 1921 a son of the late Pierre and Delvina (Ruel) Fortier and has lived in Fitchburg for over 50 years.

He was a WWII Veteran having served in European African Middle Eastern Theater with the U.S. Army

He worked as a molder at the Independent Lock Company in Fitchburg for 27 years before going to work at the former Seth Thomas Company and then Moduform Corporation where he retired from.

Joe was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish in Fitchburg.

He leaves a sister, Irene Cote of Leominster and several nephews and nieces. In addition to his wife he is predeceased by a brother, Arthur Fortier.

The family would like to thank the staff at Alliance Health at Baldwinville and the staff of Beacon Hospice for their companionate care.


His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 14, at 11AM in St. Joseph’s Church, 49 Woodland St., Fitchburg.

Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery.

A calling hour will be held on Saturday morning prior to the funeral from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the Isabelle and Anderson Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon St., Fitchburg.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alliance Health at Baldwinville Resident’s Activity Fund, 51 Hospital Rd., Baldwinville, MA 01436.
