Priscilla M. (Allen) Abbott 3/22/2012 Gloucester, MA

GLOUCESTER: Priscilla M. (Allen) Abbott, 88, died Thursday, March 22, 2012 in the Seacoast Nursing & Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Charles B. Abbott.
Born in Gloucester on November 28, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Lyman and Lillian T. (Merry) Allen. A lifelong resident of Gloucester she was a graduate of Gloucester High School. Priscilla married Charles on April 20, 1946 and that was the beginning of many happy years together.
A consummate homemaker, she took great pride in caring for her home. There were many activities that she enjoyed, especially cooking, gardening and shopping. A talented cake decorator, she baked many cakes over the years, the most significant one being for her daughter’s wedding. She also loved Wingaersheek Beach and fishing and clamming with her husband. She was an active member of the Gloucester United Methodist Church for many years.
She is survived by her five children, Joyce E. Sheedy and her husband Ronald, Charles L. Abbott and his wife Melissa, David L. Abbott and his wife Mari Bergeron, Janice E. Goodhue and her husband James all of Gloucester and Carolyn J. Parker and her husband William of Merritt Island, FL; eleven grandchildren, Pamela, Melinda, Stephanie, Emily, Haley, Leah, Gregory, Jill, Blake, Bryan and Lauren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, George Allen and his wife Muriel of Palm Bay, FL and Floyd Allen and his wife Charlotte of Cumberland, MD; two sisters, Ruth Rheaume of Haverhill and Dorothy Fiedler and her husband Willis of Gloucester and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her brother, Warren Allen.
Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle St., Gloucester at 10:30 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4 – 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in Wesleyan Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923 or to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
